What to Expect from a Session

Children's massage is not a scaled-down adult massage, it's an entirely different approach. The session starts playfully: I get to know your child, build trust, and explain everything in a child-friendly way. Only when your child feels comfortable do I begin with gentle, rhythmic stroking and kneading movements.

All techniques are extremely gentle and performed at your child's pace, without pressure and without stress. If your child becomes restless or needs a break, we adapt. The massage should be a positive experience, not an obligation. You as a parent are present throughout the entire session and can observe and learn the techniques.

I exclusively use child-friendly, hypoallergenic oils without fragrances. With babies, I often work without oil, using only warm hands. The massage surface is set up on the floor or bed, wherever your child feels most comfortable.

Children often respond faster than adults: better sleep and more relaxed behaviour are often visible after the very first session. I also show you simple techniques you can use at home, making massage a daily ritual between you and your child.

Who is Children's Massage for?

For babies from 3 months and children of all ages. Especially helpful for sleep problems, digestive issues, motor development delays, and for hyperactive children who need relaxation.

How often should Children's Massage be done?

For babies: 2-3 short sessions per week. For older children: 1-2 times per week. I also teach you techniques that you can use at home to continue the massage between appointments.

Before and after tips

Make sure your child is not hungry or overtired. The massage takes place in a warm, quiet room. You can be present throughout the session. Bring your child's favorite toy.

When children's massage is not suitable

Children's massage is very gentle, but in some cases it should be postponed or avoided:

  • Fever, cold, or acute infectious diseases
  • Skin rashes, open wounds, or eczema in the treatment area
  • Immediately after vaccinations (wait 24-48 hours)
  • Acute abdominal pain of unclear origin
  • Bone fractures or fresh injuries
  • When the child explicitly refuses, massage should always be voluntary

For chronic conditions or developmental disorders, please consult the paediatrician first. I adapt the treatment individually to your child's needs.

Frequently Asked Questions about Children's Massage

From what age is children's massage possible? +
From about 3 months for baby massage. For older children, there's no age limit. Techniques and duration are age-appropriate, from 15-20 minutes for babies to 45-60 minutes for teenagers.
Do I need to be present as a parent? +
Yes, a parent should always be present with children. This gives your child security and you can observe the techniques and apply them at home.
What if my child can't stay still? +
That's completely normal! Especially with younger children, I adapt, we take breaks, use toys as distraction, or change position. There's no pressure. The massage should be fun.
Does massage help with sleep problems? +
Yes, that's one of the most common reasons for children's massage. Regular gentle massage before bedtime can significantly shorten the time to fall asleep and improve sleep quality, especially for restless or hyperactive children.
Can I learn the massage techniques myself? +
Yes, that's actually encouraged! During each session, I show you simple techniques you can use at home. This makes massage a daily bonding ritual between you and your child.
